Sorry for the absence, things were busy here the past week.

Q1 news will be short (and posted in pieces) as a result, but I will be up to full speed by Q2 or a declaration of war, whichever comes first...

The battleships Brandenburg and Kurfürst Friedrich Wilhelm weighed anchor today en route to restoring order in our new possession of Goa.

In other news, rumours of some sort of naval battle at Easter Island have reached this news office...

Full details of the Easter Island Incident have been released.

It appears that shortly before New Years' a small flotilla of ACM gunboats arrived at the island. Claiming to be escorts having lost a convoy, they requested repairs, their ships having been somewhat battered by the winds of the Southern Ocean. At first the Acting Military Governor of the islands granted the request, however on the Second the crews of the "ACM" vessels were observed "searching and looting the abandoned dwellings on the island", according to the Governor's report.

Shortly afterwards the Governor issued a statement that the ACM ships and crews were "Pirates, engaged in the most Heinous Acts against Those they were Once Charged to Protect and Serve, and Others as well", and issued orders for the "Arrest and Impoundment of...Pirates and their Vessels...within this Jurisdiction."

While those "ACM" men ashore were quickly rounded up with little fuss, the majority of the Officers were still in the gunboats. Upon flag signals from the kreuzer Fürst Bismarck to prepare to be boarded, they instead attempted escape, and began firing upon our vessel. Fürst Bismarck quickly responded, and soon the gunboats were scattered and sinking, some sunk by gunfire, and others having scuttled upon discovering that resistance was futile.

Reports are that the majority of the ACM Officers chose to go down with their ships. One Gunboat was captured "intact", while another grounded upon the shore while attempting to evade 240mm shells; the remainder of the flotilla now belongs to Davy Jones' Fleet...

The Dar-es-Salaam Gazette

An odd sight in our city's rail terminal over the past week, as occasional trains depart carrying flatcars loaded with what appear to be heavily-laden oxcarts. Where are they going and what do they contain?

3 March

Second Battle Squadron is reported as having arrived at Goa during the past week. The Sturmtruppen carried along are reported as "quite effectivly" restoring order in the ex-ACM port.

All is not well in our newly acquired port of Goa. While the restoration of law and order has proceeded finely, the (ex) ACM battleship Goa, which was supposed to be included in the deal, is reportedly nowhere to be found, and inquires to the French squadron that previously blockaded the port as to her whereabouts have also come up empty...

Dar-es-Salaam Gazette

Two infantry divisions left our fine city today, headed North-West into the interior savannahs of our country. Rumours in the local establishments speak of "Abyssinian concerns", but no-one in the know desires to comment on the matter.

A local fisherman, who was fortunate enough to also be a photogapher, has given to this newspaper an image of a "large, fast war vessel" he observed "briefly emerging from heavy fog" two weeks ago while fishing "well to the North-East of our country".

Could this be yet another "Ghost Ship"?

ooc: those from WesWorld may have a hint of "who this may be". :-D

Well its not Harlock as he's in Rohan by March. Yet the image appears to be...Yamato? Is the Eastern Kingdom fielding a fleet quietly to the north of Rohan?

Looks like a Kongo. What might she be doing in Navalism? The world wonders.

Then again she just might be NSS Constitution (aka Consti, short for The Lake Constance Monster). wink.gif

Remember the WesWorld reference...

Of course, it could always be a hoax, too. wink.gif

France denies having any ghostships at the 7 seas.

If the fog was green, look at New Swiss.

With that massive forward superstructure it must be modern Japanese.

Looks like Tesla stole a warship from another time. Or it might be the Swiss "Mystery" ship.

The großer kreuzer Fürst Bismarck has been recalled from Easter Island. Reportedly some minor repairs are needed after the recent battle with ACM rouge vessels, and her crew is due for rest.

In related news, there have been announcements regarding some rearranging of the Hochseeflotte's assets.

Second Battle Group will be permamently stationed at Goa. When the two ageing Brandenburg-class vessels are due for replacement, they will be replaced by a single vessel. The kleiner kreuzer Niobe will also be permamently assigned to Goa Station, and new GTBs will be constructed. Goa Station will be under the operational control of the Afrikaflotte.

The kleiner kreuzer Thetis will replace Fürst Bismarck on the Pitcairn-Easter Station, and will be permamently assigned to this duty.

The XXIII Army Corps will also be activated and assigned to Goa.

There has been considerable turnover in the Ministry of Finance over the past two weeks. Rumours are that the agreed-upon payments to the Middle Kingdom for the lease of Hankow have not been made, and those responible for the mess have been sent to Ost Afrika to refresh their accounting skills with scorpions.

Revealed today was that the großes-torpedoboot S101, building in the Brandenburg yard, differs from her sister-ships of the "GTB 1898" type in mounting an experimental turbine engine installation.

The Admiralstab confirmed that the vessel is to be used to test the new type of marine drive, and while further GTB-1898 vessels built for colonial service will continue to use the older drive, it is anticipated that the next type of torpedobooten will all be equipped with turbines.

It was also confirmed that the Design Staff is currently revising the design of the "1902 Afrikakreuzer" to double as a testbed for a larger turbine set...
