Anason Seawalker, Advisor to the King for Naval Affairs, released a statement Tuesday that Rohan will restart its new naval construction projects as early at the beginning of next year with the laying down of a third Narmacil-class Combat Cruiser and the continuation of the Brytta, Battleship of the Mark which has been laid up since the war started. The plan focuses on new cruiser construction and hopefully the next generation of battleships now that the new 14 inch guns are being produced. Rumors that a new Dwarven Battleship to replace the Balan would be the first ship to mount such a weapon have been denied in favor of what Seawalker called an "enlarged Elfwine" to be started in the next two years. Seawalker hopes the King will allow funds to return to the one Battleship and one Combat Cruiser per year method of construction until at least 1910. There are also rumors about what needs to be done about the aging Protected Crusier Fleet and the lose of Orodruin. It is suspected that the "Belted Cruiser" type will replace the Protected Cruiser in many areas, but that a lighter cruiser will still be needed to escort freighters while the belted cruisers act as scouts for the fleets and hunters of raiders. There is also speculation about the increased use of torpedo equipped vessels in the fleet, as some of our allies suggest that we should get into the more personal close in quick knife fight situations like they do in land combat. Some of the Lakota we have sheltered from the UKA have also suggested this method of fighting through speed, shealth, and direct force (such as boarding actions) much like the Anahuac seem to be fond of doing. According to Seawalker, "Much still needs to be thought on, and we do not have all the answers just yet, just plans to get the fleet back up to where we'd like it and fill the holes the war and age have placed on our great navy.

The Fleet of the Northern Seas has begun to secure the Pacific Anahuac coastline. With the heavy loses of May the 28th, several ships will be sent back to Rohan for repair in the near future. Eormil Eorlson, Marshal of the Northern Seas said that the Goldwine and Elfwine, Battleships of the Mark, will transfer to the Eastern Sea's Fleet in an effort to nuetralize the remaining Anahuac Fleet units. Meanwhile Battleship Eomer will return to Rohan for an inspection of its systems so a full repair can be made of her within the next year. Other damaged vessels: Brego, Gram, Eorl, Ostoher, and Araval, will return with the rest of the fleet in the next few months for repairs. Most of these vessels should be back in service before March of next year, if not by December of this year. Helm Hammerhand however will join Argeleb and Egalmoth at the New Beleriand scrapyards. But the Helm will perform her duties until such time as a dock opens for her scrapping. She will maintain station as harbor defense of Vinyamar until Narmacil, Combat Cruiser of the Mark, is finished being repaired. At which time Helm will take her final voyage to Ammon-In-Gelydh to be cut up for scrap. Had the vessel not taken such extensive structural damage she might have been economical to repair, but with the lose of some of her elderly guns and her slow speed, she will be removed from the fleet and her parts kept to her sister ship, Eorl, may remain in service for many more years.

Freathon Ute of the Isengard Test Range told the press today that the first successful twin mounting of the new 14 inch guns has been finish and tested. It is suspected that this new mounting will be used on a new coastal defense ship for New Beleriand, but all speculation on this matter has been denied by the Marshals of the Seas and the King's Advisors. They contend that the first use of these new turrets will be in the next generation battleship to be laid down in about 20 months.

July 23, 1900

The Rohirrim Rider has been told by Halath Serni, Public Relation, that Rohan has signed a treaty with the Brandenbergians to allow for non-aggression and increased trade from the Southern Pacific to Rohan and New Beleriand. The King is said to have approved and signed a copy of the treaty before he left for New Beleriand but the official start of the treaty was to be delayed until after the renewed offensive against the Forces of the Eye had started to gain land and though begin the treaty from a position of victory as oppose to a position of need. In related news, the "Legion Kondor" reportedly has pulled the last of their troops from New Rhun and returned to their homelands.

August 3, 1900

The King's Army is pressing the Forces of the Eye towards Coatzacoalcos. Freed peoples from the Southern teritories of the Anahuac Empire have flocked to the King's banner, the White Horse on a Green Field has renewed some of the people's spirits that have long been under the hateful gaze of the Eye. Hope has come to the Anahuac of (Mexico) and in the north the Army of the Great Plains has secured much of (Sinaloa) State and his pressing through (Durango) south towards Tenochtitlan. It is hoped that the combined efforts of our armies and navies can end this war soon.

(Theoden's Day)

Today we remember one king who helped shape our destiny. Theoden King is remembered as a legend, but is considered to have been an actual living person by historians, as the written evidence from the archives of Edoras, Mundburg, and Dol Amroth along with some mention from other coninental sources indicates that he did live and that he was king of Rohan 8,200 years ago. His grave is also still present in Edoras. While most of his reign is lost to history, just that he was considered to have decayed during the last decade of the Third Age until his spirit was rekindled just before the great battles before the Hornburg and Mundburg that pushed the darkness back to Mordor. Theoden died in front of Mundburg at the hieght of the battle, but his spirit remains to remind us to keep our head in the light and charge when the worse seems to be upon you. Some say his tactics imply that the best defense is a good offense. They may be correct, and Rohan has followed this logic for land and naval warfare. While on land the days of the horse are ending, they still are a heavy and quick offensive tool that reminds our potential enemies that we can strike them back fast and hard should they attempt to take our lands or those of our allies. On the sea, this has brought about the practice of arming our ships heavily. They have to come to us, unless they wish to wait for us to come to them, but we will make them pay dearly should they try either option.

Today the King is far away in battle with the Enemy. However his oldest son, Eorl, First Marshal Mark and Marshal of the Army of the North (formerly Marshal of all Reserve Forces of Rohan) went to the mound of his grandfathers, his great-grand mothers, and uncles that were King of Rohan. Vistiting the 274 graves of the kings and queens of old, Eorl is reminded that one day he will be King. The Simbelmyne (Evermind) still bloom on every grave. The traditional reading of the names was done as is done when a new King is put on the throne, but the line breaks at Theoden to drink then continues until Theocro King is named, then the second drink is had. Rememberance of Theoden still takes centerstage on this day.

August 19, 1900

The Fleet of the Northern Seas on Monday shelled the Anahuac port of Acapulco. Varied reports about what damage was actually done to the ships in port or reports that the enemy returned fire on the Fleet. More will be learned once the Army of Gondor arrives to secure the port.

September 3, 1900

A messanger from the City of Tenochtitlan has been sent to the King. It seems the Empire has fallen to rebellion and the new government would like to talk about peace with Rohan. The King has called for the Anahuac Armies to stand down first. Some have does so, but other fight on, but not in the number they once did. A cease-fire will be called to start on September 22nd. The new Anahuac Government, which name has not yet been given to this paper, will have until that time to secure their position as oppose to those loyal to the Eye. Also the Armies of the King will press on areas of know resistance such as Acapulco and Coatzacoalcos. The Army of the Great Plains has been told to hold its position and only strike to keep Forces of the Eye away from Tenochtitlan and other regions to the south.

September 14, 1900

Goldwine and Elfwine, Battleships of the Mark, arrived in Eglarest on Tuesday to join Theoden. Together these three modern battleships will be able to engage any remaining Anahuac naval vessels, should they been encountered.

(The King's Birthday)

Today the King watches the lines of battle far from home. However the people in Edoras still celebrate what they believe in the eve of Rohan's victory over the Eye. In Ammon-In-Gelydh the King's Birthday was celebrated by the relaunching of Narmacil, Combat Cruiser of the Mark. The newest cruiser in service now rejoins the fleet after taking heavy damage a year ago at the Battle of Clipperton Island.

September 20, 1900

Under escort from Thengel, Battleship of the Mark, several fishing trawlers and other wooden sailing vessels have been taken to Clipperton Island to begin the process of removing the mine fields surround the island. The effort is expected to take the rest of the year with ships rotating in and out of the area. Runors of conflict with the New Swiss over the ownership of the Island have been reported to this paper, but the official word from Boromir Lightfoot, Foreign Advisor for the King to European Nations, is that the French Government have handed over ownership of the island to Rohan and revoked the lease to the New Swiss after several barbs were traded between the two nations. Rohan still honors the original French lease for a period of time until 1903 or when new arrangements can be made with the New Swiss Government.

This is part of a "leaked out" diplomatic message.

QUOTE

"To the honorable Rohirrim,  France graciously give over the ownership of Clipperton Island. No lease, not temporary ownership, no payments required, it's a full permanent change of ownership.  But it would be bad taste when New Swiss gets its greedy claws on the island "again"."

With hope that the ceasefire will begin today in New Beleriand and the rest of Central America, the King's Advisors have issued a statement to the French Government and the people of Rohan to quell fears of yet more problems involving the little place known as Clipperton Island.

Diplomatic Response

"As with all things of this nature, that is for the Rohirrim to decide, and not others. Given the size of the island the "usefulness" to the New Swiss is questionable at best, and while it may seem like a good place to station troops or harbor supplies, it is not. Rohan will still patrol the area regularly and through negotiations with deturmine just what the New Swiss can and cannot do with Clipperton Island. Unlike its former owners, the Rohirrim are close at hand, and very, very wary of betrayal."

Cease Fire Declared!
Yesturday the newly announced Democratic Republic of Mesoamerica sent notice to all its forces and to Rohan that a cease fire is in effect thoughout the former Anahuac Empire. All Rohirrim, Gondorian, and Allied armies have stopped their advances unless the opposing force remains engaged with them, such as with Imperial Forces near the ports of Coatzacoalcos and Acapulco.

September 27, 1900

Two days ago, the Eastern Seas Fleet attempted to engage some enemy vessels during the night and early morning. However the slower Rohirrim ships were unable to catch the ships of the Eye. No reports of damage to any Rohirrim ships as the enemy seemed to not return fire much, likely they were either low on powder, shells, or attempting to run with cargo at top speed. Some reports place shells from Goldwine, Theoden, Elfwine and Eldacar hitting some targets, but no confirmation as to what was hit, or if any enemy ships sunk during the night or later in their voyage as they were beyond visual range before sunrise.

September 28, 1900

Rumor has it that Imperal Forces in Acapulco have surrendered to the Army of Rohan. This paper doesn't expect confirmation of this rumor for at least a week.

September 30, 1900

The Eye has Fallen!
The war while began with the Anahuac Empire declaring war over the loss of one of their Armored Barks, has now ended. Theocro King signed a copy of the document that was delivered to him by rider near Coatzacoalcos where the Army of the King has been since the cease fire of the 22nd.

With the end of the war, the navy will be able to return to their original stations by Fellowship Day, and the Armies of Rohan and Gondor will begin containment and eradication of Imperial Force within the recently proclaimed Democratic Republic of Mesoamerica and the newly annexed areas of New Rhun, and Honduras.

The question of what Rohan will do with these lands is a question the nations and the king will ponder over the next year, as even the most nationalistic Gondorian never expected the success Rohan has had in this war, turning a long seige into a victory has been unheard of since the days long spent and gunpower was a wizards tool.

In other news......

August 12, 1900

Trade through AMC ports and lines under protection of AMC trade protection cruisers has become less reliable in the last several months. Rumors from a few vessels that have come past the war zone from South America have reported an increase in the amount of lost goods, and even piracy. With much of the Anahuac Fleet sunk in the Pacific Ocean last May, Rohan has begun wondering if there are more than just Anahuac Raiders out in the Southern Pacific.

September 3, 1900

Rohan has dispatched a team of merchant adjusters to the protected cruiser Caradhras to head out to the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii) to take to the local trade officials about the recent problems with the AMC's trade protections and their handling of good period. While Westron ships generally supply most of the needs of Rohan, in this time of war the AMC has been hired to handle the increased amount of shipping overseas so that the Westron ships can maintian the link between Rohan and both coasts of New Beleriand. Recently ships to and from South American and other ports in the Southern Pacific have been lost or just there cargos do not always reach their destinations on time, or even intact.

September 29, 1900

Combat Cruiser Narmacil has been sent to investigate a rumor of a AMC director on the coaling/transfere port of Easter Island becoming despotic. Rumors were spread from a group of free traders that said they had out manuvered an AMC trade cruiser north of their when they had refused to use the port due to the higher than normal port fees and poor handling of cargo. Combine with this is the recent report from the merchant adjusters team sent under the authority of the King of Rohan to get trade flowing again to and from Rohan. Their report states that communications between AMC ports has started to become eratic and sometime even contradictory. Trade cruisers are sent away from their regular routes to defend some directors personal shipments, and other are ordered to intercept ships that seemingly have done nothing but not stop at "their" port. Narmacil is expected to arrive with the next month to find out what is going on with Easter Island.

Rumors of the poor conditions in the Grand Canal Zone have been filtering out into New Rhun and have reach the ear of the King. Some equate the canal project as a great chain gang in 120 degree colverts with the prisoners dropping like flies. Some have suggested that the workers are in fact prisoners from France. With the harse conditions reported, Rohan has sent a dispatch to France to complain about the human abuses and will send a team down to investigate the actual progress of the canal itself. Rumor has it that the King will try to find a way to end the project, and annex the remainer of the former Anahuac territory of New Rhun should the rumors of corruption, death, and no progress prove to be true.

October 10, 1900

A telegraph message from Santiago, USA (Chile) reports that Narcacil has encountered a defecting ACM torpedo boat flotilla and coalier on the run from Easter Island last Thursady. Reports are not very forth coming, but it seems the flotilla is looking for a new home after the despotic director of Easter Island started supressing the locals due to panic from the lack of pay and supplies coming from the ACM administrative district of the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii). Since the Brandenbergian papers have reported on the fate of those on Easter Island, Rohan will take these 10 boats and 1 ship to New Beleriand to give them a new home. The craft will be studies locally and intagrated into the fleet early next year.

The city of Acapulco has fallen to the Army of Rohan. It is said that a few enemy vessels remain in port, according to the Third Marchal of the Mark, Theoden Masterson. The Dwarven Battleship Durin entered port to bring the last pockets of resistance in line.

October 8, 1900

Reports of the fighting in the port of Coatzacoalcos has become more intense as loyalist and republican forces fight in the streets. Rohirrm troops outside the city have not been able to get past a few loyalist divisions that hold the line to the south while republican force have managed to break into the city from the north. Reports of murder, rape, and burning of civilian homes and businesses are heard everyday, and Rohirrim Troops are trying to break the siege outside the city to liberate it from its torment. Naval vessels from the Rohirrim Fleet are rumored to be taking in troops to the port itself to break the siege from the inside. One vessel that is leading in this effort is the Eldacar under Lord Harlock. If anyone can get into the city, Lord Harlock can.

October 10, 1900

The first report from the commission sent to the Grand Canal has so far confirmed the rumors of the horrid conditions in the project area. Yellow Fever is rampant. The workers seem to die by the score ever day. And the commission had found little evidence of progress other than for a new mansion for the project manage on bluff overlooking the canyon the workers are moving rocks around in. While the King has not given word as to what Rohan will do about this situation, It seems likely that Rohan will try to either stop the project, or pressure France and its partners to clean up the project area and get some actual work done on the canal.
