Oh its going to be a slow process, its not practical to be able to recall ever single artillery piece at once. I wouldn't do it even if I could. I suppose you're right then. I DON'T have an army unit below 1905 tech so. I guess this will be purely RP. There shall be no cash spent on this.

Borys

Guns up to the end of the XIXth century were bronze or brass. Then there was a switch to steel. The  Austro-Hungarians - due to lack of  adequate supplies of high quality steel - designed and manufactured a bronze-barelled field gun in 1905, and fought the whole WWI with it.

The government has formed new departments to cope with increasing strain on the government: The Department of Transportation and the Department of Human Services.

The Department of Transportation shall be in charge of the burgeoning transportation system in the Republic. The Department of Health and Human Services shall be in charge of national hospitals, civil rights disputes, child care, inspection of medical practitioners, inspections of food quality, and immigration services.

The Bureau of Immigration Services is currently offering a head start program. Immigrants, once citizens, can receive a $2,100 to buy a family house and $75 to feed themselves until they find a job.

OOC: Average House price in 1938 (US) was $3,800. Price of 1 lb of Steak is 20 cents. Numbers are inflation calculated.

1 Sounds about right
2 Redundancy, nice.

1) Ah, bah, I meant burgeoning
2) Bureau is under Department. The Department is the bigger component which encompasses several task and the individual Bureaus address the specific issues.

ooc: Southern China is trying to Import people?? I would have expected the emphasis to be on improving farming (hence the earlier redistribution) thus freeing up some of the huge number of farmers to become urban labor

Looking at the RRC's reports, I'd think they've got plenty of people too...

I think the emphasis of RRC "immigration" policies is in fact to attract MK subjects* to cross the border.

* and yes, I know that the MK believes everyone is it's subject

Darn! He saw through our secret plans! *looks around*

The government has set about a plan for rapid construction of cheap affordable and safe urban housing for laborers. It also in the process of establishing national banks throughout the countryside as it has been noted the extent of devastation that can be caused at the slightest market fluctuation for rural citizens without access to banks.

The banks will assure the rural citizens that their money will not deprecate, or at least that much, as years past. This further ensures the farmers will always have the money to buy food, seeds, plows, and other commodities.

The government is currently seeking to form a contract with a manufacturing company to produce farm tractors en mass.

When M.A.N. becomes aware they will submit a bid.

OOC: Well you are aware now ;)

The government has started a bid to get the contract for the manufacturing of farm tractors. The government will pay handsomely for these farm tractors and thus is this not something any profit-driven company can just pass up! The bidding will continue for a week before closing.

Shluter Motors of Munich
Anton Shluter of will place a bid to supply diesel tractors. Shulter recently (2) improved cold weather operation with pre-chamber diesel engines.  Shulter can offer the DZM series agricultural tractors powered by 14hp single cylinderr 1.780cc engins to 25hp two cylinder 3.560cc engines. A 4 cylinder 50hp engine is under development.

M.A.N. AG of Ausburg
MAN will offer it's  MAN Tragpflug, first introduced 1917.  Either a 19.7hp Diesel or a 24.7hp Gasoline engine can be fitted.

1. I found its a tad difficult finding info on WWI-era Southern German tractor manufacturers. Wiki's German portion had info, but while I still understand some words the best part about my German is apparently my accent. Second, they seem delayed 4 years by the War, Lanz AG for one wound up making machineguns instead of engines, then trotted out the Bulldog in 1921. MAN had a similar date, etc. While Benz-Sendling Motorplough Co didn't get founded until 1919. Anyhow, I put forward the two I could find power numbers for.

2. 1918 patent.  Tractor is 1921, but I expect WWI caused some delays, certainly Lanz wound up making MGs for the army. Interesting that I found this on an Italian-English site, and Wiki and other sites (which seem to copy Wiki) have their first tractor in 1937.  Any, in Navalism, they make 14-25hp diesel tractors in 1918.

3. Berg being mountain, not village, I suppose Borys has a point. :)

The government of the Reformist Republic of China has, after lengthy debate and thought, decided to split the contract between the contenders.

Each contender will, however, receive different order amounts.

For the Ford Company, the government orders 5,000 Fordson.

From the Shluter Motors of Munich, the government orders 8,000 Diesel Tractors.

From M.A.N. AG of Ausburg, 14,000 Tragflug are ordered.

Therefore the government orders a total of 27,000 Tractors.

The government will pay $ 1,450,000 to the Ford Company, $ 2,400,000 to the Shluter Motors, and $ 4,200,000 to M.A.N..

OOC: Reasonable price? It comes to ~$300 per tractor, inflation calculated. That' $3,745.13 US today.
