Finally getting around to catching up.

The end of the 4th Italo-Zionite war brought for a period of political intrigue, unrest, and fear. The power vacuum left after the exile of the king and the cabinet, opened the door to many who thirst for power. The Knesset was powerless to stop the challengers, first of which to make a move being a group of Army Generals. They were soon challenged by a group of fiery young Army officers and Mossad agents. Th conflict turned violent when a combined Mossad/rouge Army force ambushed an Army convoy in the mountains near Tel Aviv. Even more blood flowed, when Army reservists sent to quell a pro-communist protest, refused to fire on the protestors and instead turned against the police officers who had issued the order. A two-day battle raged in the streets of Jerusalem, before the police forces surrendered. A black revolt in the interior fizzled out before blood was shed, but another in Entebbe, lead by one Alois Schicklgruber, was only put down by the 10" shells of the gun ship Dead Sea.

Out of the chaos that reigned, one person managed to adroitly maneuver itself to power, one who no one expected. The person was Askala Maryam, eldest daughter of the former emperor of Ethiopia, Menelik II, widow of King Ahad of New Zion, and mother to the exiled King Menachem. In a series of brilliant moves, with support from the Navy and palace guard, she outmaneuvered the Army Generals, turned the Mossad force, and gain the support of the population in a series of land reforms*. Finally in September 27, 1916 she was crowned Empress Zewditu, Empress of the combined Empire of Etiopia and the Kingdom of New Zion, the Queen of Kings.

Either I need to have my eyes checked or I need more sleep...

For some reason when I just glanced over it, it looked like it read "the Queer of Kings" at the end... :)

Looks like New Zion determined that the streets needed a new colour... :)
