1 Battle sqdrn leave Hamburg, through the Kieler-channel bound for Gujarat. The sqdrn is expected to pass the Suez around the 10/12 and should arrive in Gujarat around the 20/12.

The joint Habsburg/Romanian declaration of war against the Netherlands hits Karlstad as a bombshell. The foreign minister urgently summons the ambassador of Bavaria for an emergency meeting. That evening lights were burning all through the night in the foreign ministry and the next day parliament was called in for an emergency session the following day.

Waves were riding high as parliament met at the emergency meeting today, a very vocal faction from the Conservative party  demanded an all-out attack against the Habsburgian and

the elimination of the puny Romanian State.

But cooler heads did though prevail and after a long and exhausting debate it was decided that Esc will honour its obligation in accordance with the Leipzig treaty and as a precaution against any nasty surprises to mobilize its armed forces, but to avoid any offensive/aggressive behaviour. The mobilisation should be effectuated by the 21/12 1916.

After an uneventful journey 1 Battle sqdrn arrives in Gujarat, and is soon being rearranged into 4 groups together with the remaining Gujarat sqdrn, and at the same time the old cruiser CA 05 Isflage leaves New Zion as it presence is no longer needed, the cruiser is to be scrapped in Gujarat in the fall and its old 8" guns is to be reused for 3 coastal fortress in Gujarat along side its sister ships Isbjørn (Icebear), Isbrandt , Isafjord in 1918.

Most of the mobilization of the ESC army is nearly concluded and all troops are assembled in their barracks, ready to move by a short notice.
At the same time there is a vivid diplomatic activity with meeting with primarily the Bavarian and French ambassador, but also the Russian ambassador have been called to a meeting with the foreign department in an attempt to prevent an escalation of the Dutch/Austrian conflict.

To day the navy received 8 new destroyers of 16 scheduled for delivery this year and at the same time laid the keel on the third of the new battleships of the ocean class and a new cadet training ship with room for 50 cadets, the three new Ocean class battleship will replace the old Lyn and Torden and to substitute the Preussen class during their impending overhauls

The Romanian declaration of war is met with disbelief and anger , and rumours implying that  war can not be avoided in Europe starts to emerge ,even though the government repeatedly states that Esc wont fire the first shot ,more and more vocal factions of conservative and nationalist demand punitive action to be taken ,especially toward Romania and a more direct support for the Dutch.

The news of the peace agreement between the Dutch and Siam/Brandenburg is received with relief in Karlstad, even though there is still war between the Dutch and Hapsburg/Romania. The entire army is now at war footing and ready to repel any provocation from Hapsburg/Romania.
A note is being delivered to the Russian Embassy, stating that the confederation is contemplating to mine the Baltic entrances to prevent any incursion of hostile naval vessels. Especially the news of the purchase of 4 Russian battleships by Romania is a major concern and the confederation seek to prevent any outbreak of said ships, and thus is the Scapa sqdrn put on high alert and is made battle ready to intercept the Romanian ships.

News reaches Karlstad that also Hapsburg/Romania has signed a peace agreement with the Dutch.

After a meeting between Bavarian General-staff it is decided that the armies of Bavaria and the Confederation will conduct a series of manoeuvres and exercises during the spring since both armies already is at a war footing.
At the same time the Confederation and the Mughals is conducting negotiations concerning help to the industrial development of the Mughal Empire.

The first manoeuvre in Pommerania is concluded, and is deemed partially successful, as there some difficulties in deploying the artillery elements, but this will hopefully be worked out during the next exercise in Hessen.
