The last week of June/first week of July, I'll be taking a road trip from Boston down to Washington DC. For those of you who have been there/know the places, what would you recommend to visit? I'm planning to hit the USS Constitution, Battleship Cove, Statue of Liberty, and the two Air & Space museums. I'd like to visit the USS Intrepid but time might be an issue. Anything else that might be of interest?

BTW @ Maddox, the week before I'll be at an Underwater Robotics competition. Have you heard of MATE?

Nope Desertfox, no MATE for me, but that isn't a big surprise.
Just the Battlebots/Robotwars thing is enough to keep me off the street.

I don't know how intrepid is since the yard time, but before it was in the worst material condition and had the least to see of the 3 essexes I've been to (yorktown and hornet being the others).

Constitution, and the rest of the freedom trail stuff in boston is definitely worth it. I went to college in boston not too many years ago and give you lots of other tips too. For instance the museum of fine arts used to have a great model ship exhibit which I hope is still there.

There is also uss salem at quincy if you can get down there, and of course big mamie -- well worth it.
To me though, the star city of that trip could be philly, including the olympia and new jersey. If you get an early enough start, you can do both well in one day.

I also highly rcommend the B&O RR museum in baltimore.

And to think that if my boss lets me take a week off, I'm going to spend it digging holes for fence posts...

I was at the Intrepid last fall after the overhaul and once before in the 80's during a fleet week when one of the BB's was in.  Intrepid is in very good shape now and has lots of aircraft on the deck to look at and stuff inside.  The sub was closed off and so was the Concord.

If going to the Intrepid I suggest you order your tickets online in advance as on the weekend the wait is something else to get tickets in line.  We just walked to the front picked up our tickets and where in.
