The following notice was delivered to the various naval attaches, etc. late in the 2nd half of 1916:

The following Confederate ships are offered for sale. They have been well cared for while in reserve the past few years, but in most cases are in need of a refit. Please contact your local Confederate representative directly if interested in bidding.

- Two ships of the Stuart class (LD 1896, 10,250 tons, 4x9.2", 21 knots, 100% coal)

- Nine ships of the Saint class (LD 1902, 2921 tons, 10x4.85", 22.05 knots, 35% coal)

- Two ships of the Pasadena class (LD 1898, 2394 tons, 10x4.85", 21 knots, 60% coal)

- Three ships of the Thomasville class (LD 1900, 2373 tons, 10x4.85", 21 knots, 50% coal)
