The announcement of our claim upon the northeastern part of the continent of Australia has been greeted with jubilation by the populace. It is widely seen as being a "long overdue" step and, as one burgher put it, "our first real chance to poke a finger in the Frog's eye".

2 May
The survey ship Hyäne left Rabaul today en route to Pitcairn Island. The vessel's crew will spend four months conducting a thorough survey of the island, and it is said that if a suitable location can be found construction of a coaling base will begin.

24 May
The Kaiser today announced that Heinrich Schnee has been appointed governor of our new Australian possessions. An official name for the territory has yet to be announced.

11 June
It appears that tensions between New Switzerland and Russia have eased somewhat, and this has been greeted by the government with a sigh of relief. The Russians have in fact proposed a trade agreement with our nation, but the Reichstag wishes to see how the aforementioned situation developed further before making any commitments.

30 June
There have been rumours that our diplomatic officers have been spending a good amount of time in the embassy of the Empire of Rohan. No details have been suggested, but given popular reaction to the barbaric practices of the Anahuac Empire, the natural enemy of Rohan, perhaps mutual defense is on the table?
