Today a new year was welcomed in by the priests of Me'el Quor and Tzar-On with the sacrifice of a murderer on the main altar of the Temple of the Sun. The man had been convicted of a rape and murder of a nobleman's wife. Besides the wicked man, many animals, both large and small, were sacrificed to the gods, culminating with the slaughter of a great mumakil, captured in the jungles of the South. His bellowing and blood have greatly pleased the gods. Several worshippers of the Nailed King were killed by the Imperial Guards when they attempted to break up the festivities. Most of them, however, dissented peacefully.

His Imperial Majesty's Battlebarge 13 was laid down in Coatzacoalcos today with great fanfare. The Emperor Montexuma XX was there himself, along with most of the high-ranking noblemen of the Empire...

In an almost exact replica of the ceremony last month, the battlebarge 14 was laid down today in Coatzacoalcos today. The Emperor was unable to attend, due to an official visit to Peru, but his wife the Empress offered the traditional incense at the occasion.

The Times has received word from anonymous government sources that the wicked false-spirit-worshippers of Rohan have been making secret inroads into our lands in the South, near the Miskito Coast. We hope that our military gives those Men of Westernesse a good licking if the Rohirrim try that again!

The recent actions of the Confederate States of America are looked on with disgust and fury by the People of the Eye. This "trade" of warships appears to be the beginning of an alliance against our people. No matter. They cannot defeat us!

March 26
Although some think that the Imperial Navy ought to practice as the Rohirrim fleet is reported to have done so recently, we have reports from senior naval officers to the effect that exercises are unneccesary. Prince Tek-Il said, "The Rohirrim are stupid. Their naval exercises are unrealistic and a waste of money." We wish to remind the loyal citizens of the Empire that their Navy is invincible!
