uh-oh. This is not going to do the french-iberian relationships any good at all...

damn you, btw, you got us all hooked...the iberian press wasn't the only one thinking this had happened for real.

MUERTE A LOS GABACHOS! <<------------- sounded better with five french battleships sunk...oh well ;)

Current events

Late morning. The French embassy in Iberia.

Ambassador, a wired message from premier Galpoux.

It states a few things

QuoteFrance did not declare war to Ibera.

There is no blockade in effect. The ships of the Atlantic fleet aren't mobilised outside the peacetime efforts.

France didn't have any warplans as outlined in the Oro document.  Nor did France demanded or even indicated any demands concerning the Southern Cross alliance.

The French Atlantic fleet has 2 battleships as line of battle, Marat and Robbespiere. No French battleship called Occitanie.

The Fleurus II class sloops are non active, or being transfered to Indochina.

No French airships are currently actively searching for Iberian or Southern Cross warships.

Premier Galpoux urgently demands explanations for Iberian governement concening these events. And stresses out that is there would be any strain between iberia and France, that at least the Ligne Decreme Fortresses would be fully manned.

The Rock Doctor

Interesting scenario.  If it ever comes about for real, be sure to give us a dingle in advance.

Current Events, Early evening.

Admirals Quarters on Occitanie, gently plying the Pacific waves en route to Japan, 200 miles south of Port Moresby.

A nice bottle of wine is standing half empty on the table. A coffeepot steaming next to it.

the easy conversation about anything is suddenly disrupted by the ring of the doorbel (try to knock on a wood clad armored door)

Enter

Admiral Geon, Djibouti Command is sending a wireless. Iberia claims to have sunk our Atlantic battle line, and Occitanie.

I believe that somebody had a very early party. Reply to our communications officer on DeCreme that he must inquire for more information, stall if needs be.  Also, send towards Paris that I won't be able to join any party anytime soon.
A private message to Monsieur Grange is needed.  " Make it so, even if revealing the truth is needed."
Messieurs, It seems there is a crisis going on. If we keep on steaming on, every hour will get us 2 hours extra to return. If we turn now, we lose the same amount of time if it's a hoax or a drunken idiocy.
Also, our return would take 22 days. Better to rely on the Halifax and Canal battlegroups, as well on the activation of the Nassau treaty. I suggest we will polish of our dinner, and then go at work. Lieutenant Gravise, see to the coordination with Napoleon the Great.

Mais oui Admiral.

This embarassing and provocative 'leak' - does it mean someone in the Iberian Navy /one of her Allies would like this to happen for real?? ;)

P3D

Nah, this should be made official. ;D
The first purpose of a warship is to remain afloat. Anon.

A sim within in a sim as it were...

We need to give Mike something "real" to sim I think. I suppose I could cruise over and shell Havana to get something started. It's a short trip from Key West.

Just kidding Rocky!

No really....

The Rock Doctor

Just give me a couple of weeks to tidy the place up, and you're welcome to come on over.

Kaiser Kirk

Well I am glad I read the Battles, Dice and Rules in the meeting room and so knew this wasn't "for real" when I read it.  Concept is disquieting as it is and will cause a bit of a diplomatic ruckus.
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

Plus local effects to Iberia...  I will have to debate what happens to the Iberian government... If it wasn't just after an election I would say slam dunk it collapses.  As it is I will need to think about things.

"What do you think of this Your Highness ?" "Your opinion on this Your Highness ?" "What stance is Imperial China going to take on this Your Highness ?"
Prince Pu Lun grimaced, blinded by the flashes of the camera's. "Tensions in this part of the world have been running so high for decades, it's not wonder that a simple game was mistaken for a real war."
He pauzed for effect.
"However, it strikes me as utmost amusing that the Iberian Oxes consider themselves the equals or even the betters of the French Elephants."
"Those who dance are often thought mad by those who cannot hear the music."
