You may have noticed a new fellow about the board in the last couple days. Simon has expressed an interest in playing Ukraine - being rather fond of monarchies - and the Mods are copacetic with that.

I'll let Simon say a bit about himself, and then perhaps you folks can say hello, advise him on Ukraine's political and economic situation, offer alliances, or invade him as you think appropriate.

Hi, I'm another Mod and the player from the Confederate States of America (which is the historical Confederacy, plus some chunks of the American southwest and the northern states of Mexico).

We in the CSA have almost no interest one way or the other in the Ukraine. Although we do have a very nosy Secretary of State, so that's always subject to change.

I have to talk about myself... no one warned me about that!

But yes hello people!
What can I say about myself, I do indeed love monarchies. They just have more style than filthy republics! I am into history and role-playing. I have played in and even tried to run a few games here and there. I have a few ideas as to how I will run the Ukraine, but obviously a lot depends on what my neighbours are doing.

So anyway... hello!

That's fair enough! Can't really see a reason why we would suddenly become bitter enemies or close friends!

The Netherlands got a pretty fair relationship with Ukraine, a large proportion of the Ukrainian naval officers have received Dutch training, and some Ukrainian ships have been designed in cooperation with Dutch shipyards.

I am your neighbour along a large chunk of your western border. And a close relative by marriage.

I am also worried by socialist unrest in your realm. Plus apparent loss of general support from the populace. Chaos and Revolution will not be tolerated, even at the cost of being neighbours

Ukranian histgory and situation in brief - set-up by the losing side of a short Russian Civil War/ disputed Palace Coup. Ukraina ended up in the hands of the "westernising" fraction of Russian aristocracy, with some support from Poles (one fourth of population, one third of industry, one half of land) and other minorities. Austria-Hungary was sympathetic, trying to retain good relations with both fractions, and had some role in mediating the ensuing division of the Russian Empire.

But the ruler in Kiev failed to maintain the support of non-Russians, and is now losing the support of the Russian aristocracy which created the Ukrainian entity.

The important Polish minority is making appeals to Austria (untill now falling on deaf on deaf ears ... ), the Lithuanians and Baltic Germans/Latvians are casting glances towards East Sea Confederation (Scandinavia-North Germany - I'm giving the full name + description as you probably are not yet familiar with our alphabet soup :)), the Ukranians are indifferent, the Russian nobility is thinking of crawling back on their bellies to the Tsar ...

Just wanted to give a piece of advice to a new player; do not sign anything.
Well, at least not until you have talked to everyone around you and feel you got your bearings. Even if a deal look good, it is possible others might offer an even better one (this goes especially for tech trades), the savings can be enormous.

Greetings Neighbor!

It will be grand to have a player for the Ukraine, it will remove much temptation. ;D

I had almost caught the Ukraine up with sim reports, though I did not post anything in the 'nation' area. I consulted with Eugenius(the previous player) as too his plans. Hopefully they will mesh well with your desires. I' have some files to send soon.

The Ukraine has recently shed its older craft and has a verly nice little fleet going. I will send the files when I get a moment (they can also be found in the new design section-though they needed a few alterations).

Korpen, is quite correct, don't make any deals for a while, new players tend to get swamped with 'goodwill' by their neighbors. The Ukraine is very strategically located, so consider your options well. Take some time to get adjusted and discover the diplomatic web around you. ;D

Ukraines history is somewhat vague in specifics, but I tried to make some sense of the realtions with Russia in my history section. It was difficult to stay with Olekits historical outline and make some sense of it(Olekits files are saved in the 'Original...' sections). But I think it worked out well. The hardest was having usurpers to the throne bail out, then to be buddies afterward. If you have any thoughts I would love to hear them. Maybe we could really increase the depth of our background.

Anyhow... thanks for coming on board, I hope you stick around for alot of fun.

(Now all we need is an Ottoman Player!) ;D .

First welcome to the board and rulership of the Ukraine.

I run Iberia (Spain/Portugal/Brazil/Philippines/Puerto Rico) another Monarchy.

I also update some of the NPC's (Greece, Ottoman Empire and Bharat (India))

Iberia have had no official contact in game so its a blank slate. I expect you have nations / players nearer to you to get update with.

Some General info in the game there are a number of alliance, nation to nation and groups. Look over those alliances and figure out where the Ukraine stands in respect to them and of course nations near it.
