I think I'll get all the paperwork for us monsieur, as this is a rather important transport. (hands over a leather bound map)

Once we go over the border, the safety of this wagon is in Bavarian hands. Also, it's fairly important that this cargo gets to the right place on the right time.

Yes, I admit I took the title from that series of books (but I liked 1633 and 1634 The Baltic war better).

Mein Herr Hauptman, we got confirmation that your cargo is expected in the capital. *
But, our orders are so that we can't let you and your men on Bavarian soil in the function of French army men.

My orders are so it's easely solved monsieur. If you're willing to sign and take custody of the cargo, my job is done, at least, once  the wagon crosses the border.

Munich is the Kingdom capital still.
Each Duchy / Canton has it's own little capital also.

Munich is sending a guard unit to take possession of the wagon, but for all safety, we'll keep it here under your guard for the time being.

The sound of a door sliding open, and 2 men in uniforn bring a small folding table and a can of coffee, sugar and milk. The aroma of fresh coffee wafts trough the air.

After a few sips of coffee the lieutenant asks for a moment, and starts shouting orders.

15 men in crisp uniforms leave the wagon, and start setting up guarding positions and look outs. A clapdoor on top of the wagon opens and a Chauchat machinegun is heaved up.

Sorry for these precautions, but I expect to be here for an hour or 2. And the cargo warants this I dare to say.

Of course Hauptman. And it's on French soil. if the situation would be different I would get very nervous now. But now it gives a bit of reassurance.
