Okay, folks, time to sharpen up your act a bit.

Ensuring that the Moderators understand your intentions and orders is your obligation - not ours.  There is much to be done behind the scenes, and having to hound you for details only slows us down, to the detriment of all concerned.  So, we won't hound you for details; we will simply come to our own conclusions, which may vary with your intentions.

Therefore, the following information is necessary when advising us of orders issued to military units:

1)  Date of departure of units
2)  Date of arrival of units
3)  Route taken by units
4)  Rules of Engagement / orders.
5)  A very brief summary of operating procedures in time of war ("we fight one capital ship, but flee from two or more")

Ensure your message is addressed to all three Moderators.  It will fill up our mailboxes, but ensures your orders are not in limbo if one of us has to attend to real-life for a few days.

Finally, please remember:  we are not in the Communications Age.  It takes time to transmit information.  Please be certain that your orders reflect a suitable time lag with respect to whatever you're reacting to.

Thank you.  Good luck and good hunting.

Also, please note that - unless the rules exist somewhere and I don't know of them - the following dictates mobilization schedules:

1.  It takes one month to move a unit from Reserve to Active status.  Once active, it may be transported, and defend at reduced effectiveness.

2.  It takes one week to move a unit from Active to Mobilized status.  Once mobilized, it may fight at full capacity.

The 1910 Reserve tech applies to #1.

Sorry for being Dutch, but I don't see how "at General Mobilization can begin moving units from depots five days after mobilization is ordered" fit into that...  :-[

The Rock Doctor

I'm going to revise that to "Seven Days" as the combat system in use works on week-long intervals.

Read it as:  "When the nation orders general mobilization of army units, those units go from Reserve status to Active status in one week"

QuoteMobilization of Land Units

1.  It takes one month to move a unit from Reserve to Active status.  Once active, it may be transported, and defend at reduced effectiveness.

If the nation has completed the 1910 Reserves Tech, this interval is reduced to one week.

2.  It takes one week to move a unit from Active to Mobilized status.  Once mobilized, it may fight at full capacity.

Good!
Can be argued that a month for raising Reserve units is too harsh, and 2-3 weeks are OK.
But I think that this ruling fits my specific situation perfectly.

Thanks.  I think it conveys the historical realities from the time - if the other guy starts mobilizing and you don't, he gains quite an operational advantage later on.

It sounds about right to me.

Germany felt that russia needed about 40 days to mobilize and planned for the decisive battle against France between 30 and 40 days after the start.

While Russia does have the 1910 Tech I elected for the 'OR' portion of extra reserves(UNK went with the quick mobilizing) so I would need 5 weeks total for all units-35 days-fairly close.

Anything to slow the operational tempo will also be for the good I imagine. I will certainly attempt to relieve the burdens placed on your shoulders.

I believe that Russian mobilisation time is mostly about moving Russian reserve units into position - it's a big country, as any Russian will say with pride :)

A peculiarity of the Russian Imperial Army was that regardless where a unit was based, half of the Other Ranks had to be Russian - in other words, the army was largely exterritorial, leading to even longer mobilisation times.
