The Republican Marine Corps falls under the command of the Armada, and is employed in three primary functions.

Port security is the responsibility of fifteen battalions of 1,000 troops - grouped under three regimental headquarters for administrative purposes.  Typically, a Type 0 or Type 1 port will have a company of marines assigned to its defence.  Larger ports are assigned a battalion.

Another fifteen battalions, again grouped under three regimental headquarters for administrative purposes, are assigned to warships for guard duties, gunnery, and marine constable functions.

Three regiments have been trained and equipped for amphibious assault duties.  These are the Tiberon Regiment (based in Esmeraldas), the Hammerhead Regiment (based in Montego Bay), and the Ratas de Rio (based along the Amazon and Orinoco watersheds).

The tenth regiment is a training cadre, located at La Guaira.
