Today at noon the four battleships stationed here in

Hamburg together with the new Fleet-tender Hjaelperen and the light cruisers

Gøtaland Schleswig-Holstein left harbor for what seemed to be a shakedown cruise

with the newly commissioned battleship Sweden but surprisingly only the two old

reconstructed Isbre and Torden returned to Hamburg.

It is speculated that there may be a technical problem on board the newly

commissioned battleship.

The Baltic Confederation will hereby express its satisfaction whit the apparent end of
hostilities in the Balkans and the founding of a free and INDEPENDENT Greece, but will at the same time voice its deep concern over the prospect of the possibility of a Greece
being a Iberian "puppet-state",a prospect the Confederation have the greatest misgivings toward!
The Baltic Confederation would appreciate another choice as king of Greece than a Iberian Royal or a Hapsburg for that matter!

miketr

The Baltic Ambassador is called to a meeting at the Palace in Madrid with the Emperor.  "Mr. Ambassador you can tell Karlstadt, that if the Baltic's were so worried over a free and independent Greece they could have done something about it, LONG ago.  The expressions of sympathy and worry over the plight of Greece... After over 20,000 Iberians, over 200,000 Hapsburg and countless Greeks were lost to make that freedom a reality... is most touching.

The matter of the Monarch of Greece is a matter internal to Greece; I am only involved in so far as Head of the House of Bourbon my uncle needs my permission to accept a foreign crown.  It could be that Greece is grateful for Iberia for going to such effort to free them that they have chosen to express their gratitude by offering my uncle the throne in question.  It could also be that Greece is worried about its future and wishes to keep Iberia close and the strongest of ties between ruling families would certainly help.  It could also be that Provisional Government wants a known factor for its head of state instead of a monarch from a nation that couldn't bother to lift a finger to help them."

Visibly seething with anger... the Emperor calms himself; but waves his hand when the Ambassador tries to speak.

"I am not done...

Despite the early history of Carlism as a strongly conservative political movement it has evolved over time.  My understanding is that Greece is to be a constitutional monarchy with a parliament; much like the Iberian Empire or for that matter the Baltic Confederation.  My father had to adept to reign in the present times not the lost years of early 19th century and of times before that where kings ruled by divine right.  My uncle is not a foolish man and has scene how the more distant touch of my father and my own has served Iberia.

I expect that Austria, Greece and Iberia will continue to have close relations and consider the worries of each others nations.

Austria helped free Iberia of the red terror and as a result Iberia and Austria are very close freinds but Iberia is not Austria's puppet.  I trust you see where this is going.  Or does Karlstadt really think that after all Greece has gone through its going to calmly accept a dictator in Athens or to be turned into Iberia's colony?  Greece attempted three major revolts and many other smaller ones in the 19th century; from what I can see Greeks are not a people who will sit by and do nothing if they feel they are being oppressed.

Now Mr. Ambassador what else can I do to address the concerns of the Baltic Confederation over a matter that is none of its business?"

Viceadmiral Lewenhaupt:Good to see you ,Admiral, you look fit as ever!

Adm. Randvaror:Yes yes yes ,enuogh of the flattering, don't tease an old man.
What is this I hear;aBaltic/Dutch joint squadron? How will you make that work?Who is to command it?

Viceadmiral Lewenhaupt:There a good and sound reason behind this decision, given the situation in the Balkans, and the after my opinion, the significant change in the balance of power in Europe after the Austrian has more or less control over most of the Balkan, and also this new Wild card called Greece,is it Greece or is it just an Iberian province?!

Adm. Randvaror:Now-now those are strong words!

Viceadmiral Lewenhaupt:As an admiral in the Baltic Confederation is it my duty to expect the worst, and as for the command of the joint squadron we have made a splendid arrangement,to command shifts every sixth month, and that also gives both navies the possibility to further train and excersise their abilities to lead a fleet.

Adm. Randvaror:Well we must see how it works out.
What are your plans for the coming year in regard to new naval constructions?

Viceadmiral Lewenhaupt:Over the next 12-18 months are we expecting to build around 50 small minewessels, and of course finish our two fleet-cruisers now building in Hamburg.
Also starting is the construction of a new harbor at Stockholm and late next year also the enlarging of the Kieler-Channel will be finished so it can service even our biggest warships,so redeployment of our forces between the North sea and the Baltic sea can be done in a few hours.
We wont be starting building of larger ships until the summer of 1914 as we then will have some new naval-engineering possibilities .We also have decided as for 1914 to lay down some light battle cruisers in Gujarat and other colonies as both to boost local economy and to let the ships be at station there as the core for some new fleets in the colonies.

Adm. Randvaror:What new fleets in the colonies?

Viceadmiral Lewenhaupt:Predominantly small minewessels build on site and some ligth cruisers and the new ligth battlecruisers as flagships.
