As a general note - once the set-up work has been completed, this will be an unscripted war, presided over by yours truly and the rest of the Mod team.

We are currently sorting out what sort of timetable - weeks, months, etc - to follow.  I personally am leaning towards monthly or quarterly orders, with fairly general results being generated and reported back by the Mods.  Once this is resolved, we'll put out a call for initial orders from the participants and anybody else who wishes to meddle.

Given the way the Second Pacific War went, I'm looking for a less frantic pace of operations this time around - which should in turn mean that we can avoid disrupting the pace of the sim too much.

Agreed the Ottomans have a very large army and deep ammo reserves its going to take time to crack those defenses.  Also their navy while not perfectly designed is reasonable modern and many of the older ships have been refitted.  There is the small possibility that once the fort lines are breached things could collapse; or it could drag on for years.  I suggest, if possible six moderations per year so 3 per half (1 every 2 months).  Or if this is too much of load on the mods then one ever 3 months for 4 per year.

Given that Italia is a de facto ally of the Maori and that this war has been in the works for quite a while, I think it wise to ask what Thanthalas planned to do before his departure. For their own part the Maori have no real investment in the affair, but their friendship with Italy is extremely valuable to their long-term plans. Was Tan planning to get involved, and if so, on which side?

He was to be part of a wider war to include Egypt which I hinted at with one inside story from Cairo.  Italy was to attack Egypt as part of a general war in the Eastern Med.  Since he has left that war is in limbo.

He also had some designs on New Zion. Depending on how far he went, New Zion could be dragged into the war as a combatant.

Tanthalus hasn't been around in at least four months.  This essentially leaves Italy as an NPC - and as such, it will not be participating in the war.

I take it that we are on hold to get our new players up to speed?  If so just let me know when the mods want and I will post the final set of nastiness from Iberia and the Ottomans; otherwise I can post it whenever.

The Mods intend to script a bit of the Italy/Egypt confrontation in such a way that the new guys start 2/12 at peace.

We will have to spend a few days simming out June/12, before we move on to a few weeks simming 2/12.  Past history suggests that the new fellas should have a week or two to get up to speed before the war has really had a chance to get into full swing.

So I'd say "Go ahead", and post the nasty.

I do not know how much mods have talked with each other, but the Netherlands had delegations in Egypt look for was to strengthen them in a confrontation with Italy. Nothing much was decided on as i wanted more info to make any real decisions, but when Italy left, i stopped pressing for it.

That was before my time as Mod - might be good to fill me in.

Italy also had some designs on New Zion, so it would be good to know what happened there also. Say something like an Act of God terryfing the Romans and causing them to flee from Africa, giving NZ a nice boost in BPs, and maybe some captured ships... ;D

The Mods are consulting Talos and Charles about proposed events in 1910 - 1912.  Once there's something they and the Mods can live with, we'll ensure the info gets out to the group at large.

Question.

Will there be need for me to sim naval battles, or if others will do that, penetration tables for the guns that would be played?
