QuoteNaciones Unidas de Suramerica - More good businessmen. Perhaps not yet the start of a beautiful friendship, but such doesn't seem out of the question given our common cause.
Would that be the dislike of the DKB?  ;D
QuoteDeutcher Kaiserreich Brandenburg - Once upon a time, a bunch of smelly white men came out of nowhere and stole everything our people had, poisoning those who fled from them and murdering those who stayed. It is neither forgotten nor forgiven.

It would indeed. ^_^

I MOVED THE POSTS HERE. LET US REFRAIN FROM POSTING IN SPECIFIC SUBSECTIONS

QuoteKingdom of Rohan - They have a good reputation, but we've yet to deal with them ourselves.

I believe that you should re-evaluate that. You've been dealing with them since your rickety rafts landed on the Islands you call your own.

The Maori and Rohirrim have enough relations to have held a rugby like game back in 1903 in Rohan with Maori's international team.

QuoteAugust 16, 1903

The Maori rough play ball team that wears all black confronted the Cheyenne Warriors in Edoras yesterday. The crowd was intensely supportive of the foreigners after hearing what they call the "haka" for the first time. The Warriors were impressed, but gave it their all with the drums and war dance. The larger Maori players managed to outscore the Warriors 22-13. The impressive show has had calls for more international games in the future. Especially with this new Maori team.

I'd note that Orange is not German (rather Dutch or misc. Eastern European), and did have conflicts with the Germanic nations like the DKB or Austria. The only (although compelling) reason for dislike is the Boerish racist streak against anyone non-white.

This really surprises me and leaves me sort of scrambling, since everything else I can recall seeing on these boards about 'pre-pickup' Maoria left the impression of a rather Japanese sort of vehement isolationism.

Hm.

To Maori ears, Dutch and German pretty much sound exactly alike. The Netherlands don't really act like what the Maori (unfairly, their player admits) expect from the German peoples, so they get a note about the technicalities of the matter. The Orangites do, and don't.

Plus, it was too good a line to pass up. ^_^

Is it possible that some caciques aka Community Leaders, far from central authority, are allowing their tribesmen to enlist with the Austrian foreign troops, the Auslaender Freiwilligen Legion?
The caiques get money and arms, the tribesmen see the world and have their manly adventure, and the Austrians have ferocious troopers?

We figured they were isolationistic in general, but never considered them out of the world economy (note: 1903 Maoria was really New Zeeland still, as that was before the N2 - N3 shift).  Rohan was considered one of the few nations that had any real dealing with them on a whole, to the point where the Austrians had to ask Rohan for the location of a harbor to enact their tribal level soldier trade deal.  I figure most other nation would use the islands to the north as trading posts to Maoria.  This would make Adamstown and Easter Island quite valuable...and the mysteries about the two recent depopulations of Easter Island all the more disturbing.  (The first one was when the owning nation, a corperate state known as the ACM, fell apart and the local director (one Agrival Mars) took the food and riches and left the population to starve.  Refugees made it to Rohan, the DBK, and South America..  The island was turned over to the DBK and from a South American lease.  During the recent war with the Swiss, the island was heavily contested in 1908 but in June, all the combatants and in fact all human life on the island (died/vanished).  No explaination has been give.  The island is currently disputed by DBK/South America/Swiss interests...though it is unknown if there is any population of the island at present.)
