December 10th 1909
Vlissingen:
Today the Queen and the president of the Council of Ministers (prime minister) Theo Heemskerk were present at the celebrations in Vlissingen as the first battleships build in almost twenty years were handed over to the Navy.
The two giants of the Jacob van Heemskerk-class are arguably the two most powerful ships in any navy, anywhere in the world. Protected by thick armour, and armed with eight powerful 35cm cannons, they are likely to form the hard core of the undefeated navy for years to come.

Their completion was delayed almost three months, this due to some last minute modifications made to parts of the ships in response to feedback from the late unpleasantness.
The ships will now go to Den Helder to start their trials, but informed sources indicate that much of the trials will be based from Scapa from in the territory of Triath nan Eilean or Rí Innse Gall.

Would've been interesting if they'd been available for the war...

Indeed it would...
With the exeption of the rebuild Flandern, they are the fastest artillery ships in the fleet.

But that says more about the state of the rest of the fleet (geriatric) then it does about the Heemskerk ships.

And a bit of a time warp...

Rotterdam, 8th August 1909
In a small ceremony 12 Ukrainian officers were welcomed to Waalhaven, and the Kingdoms naval collage. Over the next year the Ukrainian officers will be undergoing training in staff work as well as higher echelon command and logistics alongside Dutch officers. Some of the visitors will serve aboard Dutch warships during their training as well.
The objective is to qualify the Ukrainian officer for either admiralty staff work of squadron and fleet command, as well as sharing the experiences of the Asian war.

In the light of the experience gained from the Asian war, the Kingdoms navy is uniquely capable and skilled in these matter. After all the different naval staffs were able to sort out the extremely complicated logistical situations associated with fighting a war half-way around the world almost flawlessly. And the Marine was never defeated in Battle!
