There are rumours of frenzied consultations between the Allied capitals.
A furball of doves and hawks is suspected to be taking place.

Hopefully somebody thought to give the doves some shotguns, or at least chainmail armour.  ;)

(this is ooc information)
The question of "reason" behind the DKB's entering the war against the Swiss, i.e. the latter's accusations of it being "unprovoked" - the Vital Interests of the Second German Reich were directly threatened by the developing situation between the Swiss and the Dutch. The Abwehr learned that the Dutch, if left unsupported, were not willing to expend the guilders to battle the Swiss on their own, and would, perhaps, be willing to cede the NEI to NS as the price for peace. This, needless to say, would produce a situation wholly unacceptable to Brandenburg, and events proceeded from there.

Brandenburg also chuckles at Swiss accuations of German treachery in the past, as it was, after all, the Swiss who instigated conflict with the Chinese when both of those nations were friends of the Reich.  ;)

NS made it clear that it was willing to let the Dutch keep the NEI with only a few 'minor' border ajustments. Sumatra, Borneo, Java, and Malaya would remain Dutch.

I instigated the conflict with the Chinese? I don't quite follow there, all I did was well nothing.

Actually, if I remember correctly, the reason China went to war with the Swiss is because you did nothing when you where asked to do something.  Then you aggrivvated the not doing anything until the Chinese decided it was time to do something because nothing was not working.

Being the resident disturber of the peace (troublemaker) did not help you during that war or this war.  In fact it made the previous war worse as what would normally have been a European rally cry again the Chinese turned into deaf ears and even support for the Chinese.  Now that support has come around and is fighting the Swiss directly, again will little sympathy given to the Swiss.

As was said, "your over confidence is your weakness".  Your faith in your friends faded long ago when you tried to start conflicts with superior powers and conducted either shady deals, or talked too much, which resulted in a mass of negative international relations.  Three of the powers that the Swiss are at war with were their allies a decade ago.

Well the Chinese where asking for too much at the point of a gun. That's no way to negotiate, I would call that, getting mugged on the street.

As for the others, the Austrians had absolutely no reason to get involved in the Pacific, nor did they have any reason to attack a sleeping city. The Germans, well backstabbing an ally, well it doesn't get worse that that. Hatred and feelings of revenge will linger on for a long time.

Austria had a far better reason to join then the Swiss had for staring this mess. The Swiss basically stared this when first taking the role of a 17th-cetury pirate state, attacking innocent ships on the high seas, stealing valuables, raping and abusing the passengers and generally behaving as the degraded huns they have shown themself to be.
When civilized nations intervene to try and put a stop to the Swiss hobby of running around the sea attacking ships for fun, the Swiss take such an offence that they will not be allowed to play pirates that they declare war.

Such a state is pariah, and NS should be happy not more states have acted on that yet.

The Netherlands are all for a peace, but a treaty that will allow the Swiss to return to their barbaric hobby of piracy is no peace treaty.

Kopen, this reference to Austrians in the Pacific is about 1901, the PREVIOUS War. And it was before I took over the Habsburgs ...

Some snippets of this are salvaged in the archives. I dunno the reasons why, but Austria sent its fleet (not suited for this) into the Pacific. And a Habsburg Admiral (1$ bounty on his head) shelled Taipei - the non-military parts.

Ahoj!
To you it is irrelevant - but not to those who played at that time. Gameswise, who did what when to whome, EVEN if under different management (i.e. player) usualy has bearing on present actions .
