Born 27 January 1859-died June 1912, Friedrich Wilhelm Albert Viktor von Preußen assumed the throne of Brandenburg on 26 March 1900 upon the death of his father, Kaiser Friedrich III. Kaiser Wilhelm II is seen as a firm but fair monarch, who in the stunning events of 1904-05 successfully completed the dream of giving Germany its place in the sun, making him a most beloved figure in Brandenburg's public eye. He has also weathered a number of crises, including nearly being stranded in Austria while visiting his fellow Germanic monarches, and being held hostage by his own eldest son, the power-mad Friedrich Wilhelm Victor August Ernst (Kronprinz Wilhelm at the time), however each time he comes out stronger than before.

It is believed that his trip to Europe changed something within him, as while before he was a strong supporter of the policy crafted by his father and the Chancellor von Bismarck of "no return without a crown!" for the one-time Greater Germany of Europe, since his return he has been seeking to mend bridges with the old county, openly opening discussions with the Baltic Confederation, and, it is said, giving serious thought to recognising Bavaria.

Kaiser Wilhem II has been married to Princess Augusta Viktoria of Schleswig-Holstein*, now Queen of Neue-Preussen, since 1882. They have the following children:

  • Prince Wilhelm, born 1885, exiled to Japan in 1905, received from exile to be Governor of Ost Inseln in 1918
  • Crown Prince Eitel Freidrich, born 1886
  • Prince Adalbert, born 1887
  • Prince August Wilhelm, born 1889
  • Prince Oskar, born 1890
  • Prince Joachim, born 1892
  • Princess Viktoria Luise, born 1894
