New CSA Weapons Classification System

These are the changes I am planning to make to the CSN naval artillery.
Currently, guns in the CSN are classified by their weight but measured in inches. I want the CSN to do away with the diameter measurements completely and simply concentrate on making 'ideal weight' shells for each desired gun size.

As of 1910, I'll begin instituting this change. The planned shell weights are below, listed with their corresponding Imperial measurements. The progression is logical and smooth, and seems to be reasonable in my mind.

2000-pounder (14.0")
1500-pounder (13.5")
1000-pounder (12.5")
  800-pounder (11.5")
  400-pounder (  9.2")
  200-pounder (  7.5")
  100-pounder (  6.0")
    50-pounder (  4.5") QF
    25-pounder (  3.5") QF
    20-pounder (  3.0") QF
    10-pounder (  2.5") QF
      5-pounder (  2.0") AA
   2.5-pounder (  1.5") AA

You will have to make the gun tables for them  :P

Don't know what you mean... but I hope that the algebra is all undergrad level. :(

Will read the instructions and see what I can do.

IMO 2000 pound is a bit too much for a 14". 1700-1800lbs max.

These superheavy shells are actually perform worse at battle ranges than light ones. Depending on weight, the switchover in performance is around 16ky.

Get one 900lb 12" shell, and be done with it, at least one shell should be the same for everyone.

Ahoj!
I have corresponded a bit on this with Carthaginian - I believe the 14 inch to be a typo - it should be 15".

Borys is right... it was supposed to be a 15" for that particular gun.
The only 'superheavy' shells would the 9.2" and the 13.5"- the formewr would be replaced ca.1915 by a 9.5" and the latter would be obsoleted by 1920.

P3D, I wanted the shells to increase incrementally, and 900 pounds throws that off badly. I'll happily do the tables, but the whole point of doing this was to make a totally unique system. If forced to, I'll comply, but if I can manage it I want to make something unique and identifying for my nation besides my intended adoption of trunked funnels. ;)
