Counting pixels

Anybody know of any image program (preferably a simple one) that can count pixels of different colours?

If it is for what I asked (hit location tables), you don't really need that. Estimate within +-10%.

If not, it sounds like an entry-level university programming exercise. Save as 256/zillion-color BMP and go through pixel color values one by one.

It is for that, and i wll google around, as I think it just have been done, esp for stuff like this.
And it is always nice to be exact ;)
